Lothar Herzog
Lothar Herzog, born in Freiburg, Germany, grew up in Paris. He studied Applied Cultural Studies in Hildesheim and Film Studies in San Francisco. He worked on theatre productions, shot video installations and taught workshops and seminars about arts, culture and politics. Then he studied Film Directing at the German Film & Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin. His short films were shown at numerous international film festivals, among others in Cannes and at the ‚Berlinale’. He founded the lothar herzog filmproduktion gmbh in 2016. In 2019/20 his first feature film ‚1986‘ (WDR/ARTE-coproduction) was presented at many international film festivals, won the First Steps Production Award, the Gold Price for Best Directing in Hof, Germany, the Best Film Award at MosfilmFest in Moscow, and others. ‚1986‘ was released in September 2021.
