Lothar Herzog

Lothar Herzog, born in Freiburg, Germany, grew up in Paris. He studied ‘Applied Cultural Studies’ in Hildesheim ‚Film Studies’ in San Francisco, and ‚Film Directing’ at the German Film & Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin. In 2016 he founded the ‚lothar herzog filmproduktion GmbH‘. His first feature film ‘1986’ (WDR/ARTE coproduction) won many prices, was released in German movie theatres, on TV (ARD, ARTE) and through streaming. Besides his work as a filmmaker Lothar Herzog is teaching seminars and workshops. Currently he is working on a documentary film together with author/director Patricia Hector about the last witnesses of the Nazi Regime in Germany from the perspective of the ‚Ordinary People‘ who were supporting the Regime. The Film ‚The Unspoken‘ (Das Ungesagte) will be released in 2025.
